Nanocellulose

I came across this link recently.

Upon some very brief online research it seems some progress has been made with nanocellulose wood pulp for building materials. The strength of this material is on par with carbon. However the sourcing of the pulp should be much cheaper and more sustainable. One issue is moisture and from what I have read a proper sealer is required. But that sounds like a relatively easy problem to solve.

The example above of a nanocellulose bicycle frame is intriguing. It is impossible to tell from the images just how they were made and what the process was for the carbon layer. The description helps but more information would be helpful.

Some research universities are
offering samples.
